Hello and Happy New Year Reader 👋 Is this the name you would like to be greeted with? Isn’t it fascinating how children can become completely captivated by television shows? However, the fascination fades when the show in question is Squid Game… Even if we haven’t watched a single episode, the influence is there. This presents a new parenting challenge for me, especially considering my son is ten years old! Our local school has even implemented a ban on all games associated with this series. An unexpected twist for what used to be innocent children’s games! But now, the decision is also mine. Should I support the ban, or would it be wiser to watch the episodes together, creating a safe space for discussion and understanding? I’m curious to know what you think, and I’d love to hear your thoughts! Now, back at the headline. Being somewhere in between, I agreed last weekend to craft some ddakji (a traditional South Korean game played using folded paper tiles) and to make dalgona (South Korean candy made from melt sugar with some baking soda). But there was a condition – my son had to research the correct instructions for both. He quickly discovered an overwhelming number of tutorials, each with their own unique spin, making the selection process quite challenging. Apart from a compromise on paper colors and a good dose of patience, our ddakji turned out just fine, and we’re still playing with them often. However, the dalgona was less successful, thanks to my slight misunderstanding of the preparation speed. As a result, no way to be able to play the game with my ultra-caramelized version 😆 Isn’t that what happens to us, too, when we prefer to glean free information here and there instead of turning to a trusted source, especially when it comes to our business? We get lost in a sea of YouTube tutorials, blog posts, and free mini-courses, only to add even more overwhelmed to our already confused brain! When it comes to growing our business, one piece of advice doesn’t fit all, especially mass generated free advice found randomly. I’m not saying that free advice is never good! They’re generally a gateway for businesses to get their name out there and attract ideal potential customers. You and I do the same, right? On the other hand, over-consumption of information will get you nowhere if you don’t narrow your sources and don’t take action as you learn new things. So, if you’re feeling stuck right now, here are some of my trusted sources to give you the traction you need to move out of the quicksand ⤵️
