πŸ” Pattern #6: The Invitation Gap

By Stephie

September 11, 2026

Hello and Welcome to Behind the Friction, Reader!

Every Friday, I pull back the curtain on something I’ve noticed while working on my own business… hoping it helps you see yours a little differently too.

Looking for a previous issue? They are all available to read on my website.

~ πŸ” ~

I know this pattern because I’ve been very good at it myself.

Someone shares what feels stuck.

I listen.
I notice the pattern.
I offer a useful thought.
Maybe even a genuinely good next step.

Then I end with something like:

β€œHope that helps!”
β€œKeep me posted!”
β€œLet me know if you need anything.”

Helpful? Absolutely.

Clear about how they could get more support from me?

Not even a little. πŸ˜…

That’s The Invitation Gap:

The space between someone thinking, β€œThat was useful,” and knowing what it would actually look like to work with you.

We often avoid naming the next step because we don’t want to be pushy.

But leaving people to figure it out alone is not automatically more generous.

If your work could help them move forward, a clear invitation is part of the experience.

Not a trap door.
Not a weird sales ambush.
Just a visible bridge.

That’s why I created the Next Money Move Snapshot.

It’s for creators whose business has traction, but whose sales or momentum have become harder to predict. I look at what’s happening, name the friction that’s getting in the way, and give you the clearest next move to test.

If that sounds like the bridge you’ve been missing:

See you again Behind the Friction next week!

P.S. Being helpful is a strength. Making people guess how to continue the conversation with you is not. πŸ˜‰

NOTE: I’m moving things around in the backend to make room for a new project. Can you help me spot “bad experiences” regarding my site, your members’ area, communications, or whatever? I would really appreciate your help with this! It will make it so much easier for me to fix and improve everything that needs attention. Thank you!

Disclosure: From time to time, I will include links in the emails that would include promotions for my own products or affiliate products, meaning I get paid when you buy the product. However, I only ever mention products I love and would recommend whether I was being compensated or not. Always use due diligence when buying anything and remember, what works for me may not always work for you!

Thank you so much for your support of Stephie The Happy Mom!
