[๐Ÿ”] I didnโ€™t expect this to turn into anything

Hello and welcome to my experience design lens series, Reader ๐Ÿ‘‹

Not theory.
Not frameworks.
But the real decisions underneath the work.

The parts most people donโ€™t see.

Looking for a previous issue? They are all available to read on my website.

๐Ÿ” ๐Ÿ” ๐Ÿ”

โ€‹

Today’s a little different. No pattern reveal this time!

More behind the scenes.

โ€‹

When I started what I now call the Evidence Logโ€ฆ
it wasnโ€™t meant to be anything special.
Definitely not something to sell!

โ€‹

I just wanted a simple way to not lose track of what was happening.

To feel like I was actually moving forward.

Because if Iโ€™m honestโ€ฆ
I was doing a lot.

But I couldnโ€™t clearly see if any of it was working.

And thatโ€™s a frustrating place to be.

โ€‹

Because when you canโ€™t see your own progressโ€ฆ
you start
questioning everything.

Should I keep going?
Should I change direction?
Am I wasting my time?

So I started capturing small pieces of evidence.

Nothing fancy.

Just:

โ€œWhat actually happened today that moved something forward?โ€

โ€‹

After a few weeksโ€ฆ
something shifted.

Patterns showed up.

โ€‹

Some of them were reassuring.

Things I didnโ€™t even realize were working.
Decisions I kept making that were actually helping me move forward.

โ€‹

But others were harder to look at.

Moments where I stayed too long in something that wasnโ€™t moving.
Times where I went back and forth instead of deciding.
Situations where I thought I was making progressโ€ฆ
but was really just circling.

โ€‹

And the uncomfortable part?

None of this was new!

It had been there the whole time.

I just wasnโ€™t seeing it clearly enough to do anything about it.

Thatโ€™s the real cost.

Not lack of effort.
Not lack of ideas.

But spending weeksโ€ฆ sometimes monthsโ€ฆ
โ€‹
moving without knowing whatโ€™s actually moving.

โ€‹

And once you start seeing it?

You canโ€™t really ignore it anymore.

โ€‹

Decisions get simpler.

Not easier.

But harder to avoid.

โ€‹

I didnโ€™t build this thinking it would become anything.

Not a product.
Not something to share.

โ€‹

It was just me trying to solve something for myself.

โ€‹

But the more I used itโ€ฆ
the more I realized how many of us are in that same place.

Moving.
But not really seeing.

So I turned it into something you can use too.

Simple. Still evolving. But already doing the job.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Start clearing the fog one entry at a time.

PS: The hardest place to be is not stuck. Itโ€™s movingโ€ฆ without knowing if itโ€™s working.

NOTE: I’m moving things around in the backend to make room for a new project. Can you help me spot “bad experiences” regarding my site, your members’ area, communications, or whatever? I would really appreciate your help with this! It will make it so much easier for me to fix and improve everything that needs attention. Thank you!

Disclosure: From time to time, I will include links in the emails that would include promotions for my own products or affiliate products, meaning I get paid when you buy the product. However, I only ever mention products I love and would recommend whether I was being compensated or not. Always use due diligence when buying anything and remember, what works for me may not always work for you!
