What our dalgona fail taught me

It’s so funny how often kids can get hooked on shows! But not that quite funny when the show in question is … Squid Game 🦑

Even if we haven’t watched any of the episodes…
Making the situation my new mom dilemma (he’s 10).

You know, there is school and there is Internet these days lol
Easy to be influenced even if you were not interested in the first place.

Our local school has even gone so far as to ban all games relating to this series. Talk about an unforeseen turn of events for what used to be fun kids’ games!

But the ball is also in my court:

Would it be better to join the ban movement,
or do you feel like watching the episodes together in a safe, open environment for discussion might be a smarter approach?

I’m curious to know what you think and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Now, back at the headline.

Being somewhere in between, I agreed last weekend to craft some ddakji (a traditional South Korean game played using folded paper tiles) and to make dalgona (South Korean candy made from melt sugar with some baking soda).

But only if he does the research to find the correct instructions for both.

He soon realized that there was no shortage of tutorials, and that they all had their own variations, making choosing the right one more complicated than he’d thought!

Apart from a compromise on paper colors and a good dose of patience, our ddakji turned out just fine, and we’re still enjoying them to this day.

However, as for the dalgona… I think I missed a thing or two about the speed of preparation! So no way to be able to play the game with my ultra-caramelized version 😆

And then, it hit me.
So hard that I started to laugh out loud for myself!

Aren’t we experiencing the same when we search the Internet for free info, whether it is for personal or business purposes?

Scrolling through YouTube tutorials (and getting distracted by everyone-and-their-dog Squid Game shorts),
jumping through blog posts (and now getting distracted by origami paper adds)
or signing up for free mini-courses (and flooding your mailbox even more)!

Only to add even more overwhelmed to our already confused brain!

Of course, when it comes to building/ growing our biz, one advice couldn’t and shouldn’t fit all, especially when it comes to free advice gathered here and there.

Since I started my Coffee Chats, I’ve discovered one of my superpowers: brainstorming creative solutions tailored to the unique needs of each person I connect with!

It’s been such a wonderful experience for everyone on both sides of the screen!

So, if you’re stuck on something right now, do not hesitate and book a free chat with me.

I can’t wait to help you out!

Wishing you & your loved ones health, wealth & loads of New Year cheer!
