๐Ÿ” Maybe we’re solving the wrong problem

Hello and Welcome to Behind the Friction, Reader!

A place where we look past the obvious answers, question assumptions, and uncover what’s really getting in the way.

Looking for a previous issue? They are all available to read on my website.

~ ๐Ÿ” ~

Before we dive in…

You may notice this email looks a little different today.
That’s because this newsletter finally has an official name.

Behind the Friction.

Which feels pretty fitting considering how often I find myself asking:

“Okay… but what’s actually going on here?” ๐Ÿ˜†

Because the obvious answer is rarely the whole answer.
And that’s exactly what today’s email is about.

โ€‹

Creating has never been easier.

Need ideas?
Need products?
Need content?
Need images?
Need marketing help?

There’s an AI tool for all of it!

โ€‹

A few years ago, creators had a production problem.

Today?

I’m not convinced that’s the bottleneck anymore.

In fact, I think we’ve solved that problem so well that we’re now staring at a completely different one.

Because if everyone can create…

Why are so many creators still struggling?

โ€‹

I think many of us are looking in the wrong place for the answer.

When sales slow down, engagement drops, or growth stalls, it’s easy to assume:

“I need more traffic.”

“I need more products.”

“I need more content.”

“I need a better prompt.”

But what if those aren’t the real bottlenecks anymore?
What if we’re still trying to optimize the thing that is no longer scarce?

We’re flooded with products, content, images, and information like never before!

What hasn’t become abundant?

Feeling understood.
Feeling seen.
Feeling like someone truly gets what you’re trying to do.
Feeling like an experience was designed with you in mind.

That’s becoming rare.
And rare things tend to become valuable.

โ€‹

The more I ponder it, the more I feel like weโ€™ve cracked the creation issue, but ended up with an even bigger connection headache.

That’s where trust lives.
That’s where loyalty lives.
That’s where transformation lives.

And that’s where experience design becomes so interesting to me.

Because people don’t remember products.

They remember experiences.
They remember how something made them feel.
They remember the moment something clicked.
They remember feeling understood.

โ€‹

Think about the last time you bought something and immediately thought:

“Wow. They really get me.”

Chances are it wasn’t because the PDF had twelve extra pages ๐Ÿ˜†

It was the experience.
The attention.
The clarity.
The thoughtfulness.

The feeling that someone has taken the time to understand what truly matters to you, likely because they have experienced it firsthand.

And I have a feeling that’s where the biggest opportunities are hiding right now.

Not in creating more.

But in creating better experiences around what already exists.

โ€‹

โ€‹

PS2: Sometimes the biggest breakthrough isnโ€™t finding the answer.
Itโ€™s realizing youโ€™ve been trying to solve the wrong problem.

NOTE: I’m moving things around in the backend to make room for a new project. Can you help me spot “bad experiences” regarding my site, your members’ area, communications, or whatever? I would really appreciate your help with this! It will make it so much easier for me to fix and improve everything that needs attention. Thank you!

Disclosure: From time to time, I will include links in the emails that would include promotions for my own products or affiliate products, meaning I get paid when you buy the product. However, I only ever mention products I love and would recommend whether I was being compensated or not. Always use due diligence when buying anything and remember, what works for me may not always work for you!

Thank you so much for your support of Stephie The Happy Mom!
