Happy post April Fool’s Day, y’all!

Is this a thing for you Reader?

If so, I’d love to know what you did and/or what happened to you! I always love to have some extra ideas up my sleeve šŸ˜†

I was so ā€œhappy-busyā€ playing with you yesterday that I forgot to prepare something for my boys (aka husband & son).

But my son didn’t miss a moment to play tricks on me!

From the usual paper fish on my back to hidden stuff (including himself), it was a day full of surprises!

Now, back to us. How did you like my attempt to stand out in your inbox yesterday?

If you missed it, I invited you to join me in a game of 2 Truths and a Lie, offering a fun opportunity to get to know me better (scroll down to read my statements).

A big thank you to everyone who shared their guesses with me. If it’s true that the first makes the month, you’ve set me up for an exceptional month, then!

So…

Are you ready for me to tell you which one was my lie?

…

My lie was…

Absolutely!

Being the director of programming for the Optica Photo Club at Laval University and managing a restaurant were both challenging yet incredibly rewarding experiences. But I never got to stretch for an entire year teaching visual arts to high schoolers!

I do have an art teacher degree from Laval University and have done some locums, but I preferred working in junior schools. Plus, staying home with my son made me change my mind about making it a career before I can even apply for long-term contracts! šŸ˜†

I did the draw earlier today and contacted all the participants to give them the gift card they were eligible for.

Thanks again for playing with me!

I found it so much fun that I’d love to repeat the experience. Do you have any ideas for the next game? Feel free to hit reply and let me know!

Stay tuned for my next email, where I’ll drop some hints regarding my exciting announcement set to come next week!

Wishing you & your loved ones health, wealth & loads of fun!

P.S.: If you notice anything that’s not working properly, whether it’s a broken link, a product that’s disappeared from your account, or anything else, please don’t hold on to let me know. I’d be very grateful, as it will help me quickly fix what needs to be!

Here are the 3 statements I shared yesterday. No one could figure out which one was my lie. Would you have been able to guess correctly?

1- I was a high school art teacher for 1 year.

As some of you may know, I have an art teacher degree from Laval University. I did a few locums here and there before getting a 1-year contract to teach visual arts to 5 groups of 13ish year-old students. That was my first year-long experience of the kind, and let me say, it was a tough one, to say the least. You know the feeling, sharing your passion with kids who, for the most part, don’t even care about it? Then my son came to the world, and I decided I’d rather stay home with him!

2- I was director of programming for Optica Photo Club of Laval University for 3 years

It was in my younger days, when I was trying to get a bachelor’s degree, but wasn’t yet sure of my career choice. Being part of the photo club was the best part, and that’s why I decided to get more involved. I’d surprise myself by finding the most unusual speakers, organizing memorable outings and, above all, creating an incredible sense of belonging among our group!

3- I was a restaurant manager for a month.

This one is a weird story. As you also may know, I’m a Jane-of-all-trades, and one of my trades was pastry chef, double as a cook. One of my previous teachers hired me to work at his new concept restaurant as a second, but it turned out all the chefs he was hiring found a reason to quit after a while (I never got why exactly). So my teacher just decided to stop looking for a chef that could fit with his concept and kept the restaurant open only for breakfast until he’d find … a new owner. So I offered to take charge of the restaurant during this period. Then, not liking at all the attitude of the new owner, I decided to leave for a new experience.
